Maximizing Reimbursement from the EHR Incentive Payment Program

Client Description

Multiple Health and Human Service Agencies in Massachusetts, each representing hundreds of individual providers.

Challenge

The organizations were installing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and were looking to utilize the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program. Given that the organizations are behavioral health based providers, Eligible Professionals represented a small number of their overall service providers. Internal staff had investigated supporting the registration and attestation process but determined that it was best to bring in outside support.

Ninestone’s Approach

Ninestone analyzed claims data and facilitated the EHR Incentive Program registration and attestation process. This included determining eligibility for each Eligible Professional on staff, registering them with the PECOS, CMS, gathering registration requirements, analyzing and submitting application data, and working with state analysts to achieve approval for payment.

Results

Ninestone provided overall project management including creation and execution of work plan management, resource allocation and scheduling, and risk identification and mitigation efforts. The project was on-time and within the organization’s budget. The project goal – streamlining the process by which the organization registered and attested their qualifying encounter reporting for Eligible Providers, resulted in substantial payments for first year applicants of over $300,000.
